‘La Cena’ by Manuel Gómez Pereira, starring Mario Casas and Alberto San Juan, opens the Begur International Film Festival this Friday.
The festival will pay tribute this weekend to actress Eulàlia Ramon and will present the 2025 Critics’ Award to the film critic for the Segre newspaper, Juan Ferrer.
‘MARIO’, the directorial debut of Guillem Miró, will arrive on Saturday in the festival’s competitive section. The film crew will present the film in Begur. Another official section entry is the film ‘PLAYA DE LOBOS’ (Wolves’ Beach), a film directed and written by Javier Veiga, who will also present his work on Saturday at the Casino de Begur cinema, the festival’s venue.
The festival will pay tribute on Saturday to the Catalan actor Casto Sendra ‘Cassen’. His family and the actor David Fernandez will attend the recognition event. The festival will screen his legendary film directed by Luís García Berlanga, ‘Plácido’, in a special session on Sunday. The Begur Festival will award the Female Gaze Award (Premio La Mirada Femenina) to journalists Marta Armengou and Nuria Vidal for their communication project on women’s cinema, Filmtopia.
The Minister of Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu, is scheduled to attend the award ceremony, where the festival will announce a new section dedicated to cinema and tourism.
