French-style opening at the Begur Comedy Film Fest
The opening will take place on Friday, October 2, at 7:00 p.m. at Cinema Casino, with ‘Juste une illusion’, the new film by Olivier Nakache and Éric Toledano, directors of ‘Intouchables’. Featuring Alexis Rosenstiehl, Louis Garrel, and Camille Cottin in the cast, the film is set in 1985 and follows a boy about to turn thirteen in a family environment marked by conflicts. A dramatic comedy about the passage from childhood to adolescence and the hope of changing the world.

The first weekend will bring together three more proposals from the official section. On Saturday, October 3, ‘L’Heureuse élue’ by Frank Bellocq will be screened, a farce starring Camille Lellouche and Lionel Erdogan in which a young man hires his Uber driver to pose as his fiancée during a family trip to Morocco.
On the same day, it will be time for ‘Toujours possible’ by Jacques Ouaniche, starring Nadia Farés and Patrick Ridremont, which addresses desire, motherhood, and life expectations beyond fifty.
The day will be completed with the premiere of the film ‘Arriba tutto’, directed by José Mota and starring Mota himself alongside Karra Elejalde and Pablo Cabello. The co-production between Spain and Italy tells the story of a seven-year-old boy who loses his father, an itinerant artist who had taught him to discover magic and humor in everyday life.

On Friday, October 9, the official section will present ‘Moscas’ by Mexican filmmaker Fernando Eimbcke. Starring Teresa Sánchez, Bastian Escobar, and Enrique Arreola, the film explores the unexpected bond between a lonely woman and the son of the man to whom she rents a room. A story about coexistence and the ability of others to transform a seemingly immutable world. On Saturday,
October 10, ‘Avignon’ by Johann Dionnet will arrive, starring Baptiste Lecaplain and Alison Wheeler. Set at the theatrical festival in the French city, the comedy follows an actor who gets trapped in a lie to seduce a colleague. Completing the selection is ‘C’était mieux demain’ by Vinciane Millereau, presented on August 10 as part of the Summer Film Fest. Starring Elsa Zylberstein and Didier Bourdon, this comedy moves a 1950s family to the contemporary world to humorously confront social changes and gender privileges.

The dates, schedules, and complete list of side activities as well as tickets for all sessions are already available on the Begur Comedy Film Fest website.
Honor Awards fill Begur with stars.
Honorific awards will bring a crowd of film personalities down the longest red carpet on the Costa Brava. Enric Auquer will receive an Honor Award for a career combining dramatic intensity and comedic talent, with works such as ‘Eye for an Eye’, ‘House on Fire’, ‘The Teacher Who Promised the Sea’, and the recently released ‘Cronos’. José Coronado, awarded in the 2025 edition, will return to Begur to hand over this award.
One of Spanish TV’s most popular faces, Macarena Gómez, will be recognized with an Honor Award for her versatility and contribution to cinema and television comedy. The festival recognizes a career that includes collaborations with directors such as Álex de la Iglesia, Paco Plaza, Eduardo Casanova, and Maria Ripoll, as well as the popularity of her character Lola Trujillo in ‘La que se avecina’. Furthermore, she is an actress with a strong connection to the Empordà.
Director and screenwriter Óscar Aibar will also receive an Honor Award. Author of ‘Atolladero’, ‘Platillos volantes’, and ‘El Gran Vázquez’, and director of numerous episodes of ‘Cuéntame’, Aibar has built a body of work marked by humor, a focus on the fringes of society, and an interest in rebellious and dreamy characters.
The Costa Brava Award, celebrating its second edition, will go to producer Edmon Roch, founder of Ikiru Films and promoter of titles such as Tad the Lost Explorer adventures, ‘El niño’, ‘Yucatán’, or the recently awarded film at Cannes ‘Viva’, directorial debut by Aina Clotet.
Other awardees in this edition are photographer Óscar Fernández Orengo, who will receive the Josep Carreras Award for his work dedicated to film creators, and Carlos Boyero, who is granted the Critics’ Award for five decades of film journalism.
