Girona-born producer Edmond Roch will receive one of the honorary awards at the 12th edition of the festival.
‘Solo una ilusión’, the new film by ‘Untouchable’ directors Eric Toledano and Olivier Nakache, is one of the festival’s highlights.
The Begur Comedy Film Fest has presented its 12th edition, and the countdown is officially underway. At the Parador de Aiguablava in Begur, surrounded by fans, institutions, and sponsors, the event revealed exciting details that will shape the summer schedule of this town in the Baix Empordà.
The first reveal is this year’s poster, dedicated to the legendary comic actor Peter Sellers. The actor behind iconic cinema characters such as Inspector Clouseau and Dr. Strangelove will also be the central theme of one of the exhibitions held in the town.

Although this 2026 edition of the event will take place from October 2 to 12, the festival director Clara Dato has presented the Summer Film activities. From this July until well into August, various venues across the town will host concerts and film screenings to build excitement ahead of October.
Dato wanted to emphasize the great health of the Begur Comedy Film Fest, highlighting the involvement of the local area, the business community, and the support of public institutions. “Begur comes alive during the festival at a time when tourism is in its low season. We are very happy and proud to see how an initiative that started with an enthusiastic group of volunteers has come so far, gaining the support of companies, public administrations, and drawing the attention of both local audiences and people from other parts of the country.”
First Confirmations and Highlights
Girona-born producer Edmond Roch will be one of the key figures of this 12th edition of the festival, where he will receive an honorary award in recognition of a career that has made him a key figure in Catalan and Spanish cinema.
As highlighted by the artistic director of the Begur Comedy Film Fest, Santi Lapeira, Roch’s award is more than deserved for an ongoing, highly successful career. “He is behind such outstanding productions as ‘Perfume: The Story of a Murderer’, the ‘Tad Jones’ saga, or the recent ‘Viva’ by Aina Clotet, which has just been awarded at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.”
Lapeira also shared a sneak peek of one of the titles to be shown exclusively this October. ‘Solo una ilusión’ (A Real Job), the new film by Éric Toledano and Olivier Nakache—the directorial duo who won over international audiences with ‘The Intouchables’—will have its avant-première in Begur. Their latest work is one of the most highly anticipated French film releases of 2026 and strengthens a lineup that combines major names in European cinema with support for local talent.
For her part, the Mayor of Begur, Maite Selva, assured that October is a highly anticipated month in the municipality because the Begur Comedy Film Fest is a well-established event in the region. “Every year they surprise us with their activities and programming. Yet another proof of this is this year’s Summer Film Fest preview. We can see, once again, that this festival is truly unstoppable.”

The Mayor of Begur, Maite Selva, and the festival director, Clara Dato, were in charge of unveiling the 12th edition’s poster at the Parador de Aiguablava.
